So, it’s been a few weeks since you sent off your application for the BBC Production Apprenticeship. You’ve been refreshing your emails in anticipation and wondering what happens now?

If you have received a rejection email, it’s going to hurt but don’t give up. Work on your application, get some relevant work experience and try again. Keep going, it will be worth it!

Those who are lucky enough to be chosen to complete a video interview will receive an email with the subject line, “Invitation to interview: Production Apprenticeship.” Well done, you should be extremely proud of yourself you’re closer to getting a place on this incredible scheme!

* EVERYTHING I HAVE WRITTEN IS MY ADVICE AND IS NOT IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE BBC *

WHAT IS A VIDEO INTERVIEW?

You will need to record a three videos of yourself answering some questions. The videos must last up to two minutes long. This will determine whether you get an invitation to a BBC Assessment Centre. This is your chance to show your personality and share your unique ideas.

WHAT COULD THEY ASK ME?

They will likely ask questions about working for the BBC, you’re personality and creativity. Here are some examples of what MIGHT be asked:

· What does the BBC mean to you?

· What is your main motivation for this scheme?

· Why do you want to work for the BBC?

· Pitch an idea for a television question

HELP – ANY LAST TIPS?

The BBC want to recruit professional, creative and friendly apprentices. I took the time to make myself look presentable – brush your hair and don’t wear you’re pyjamas. When answering the questions, look at the camera and smile. There will be a list of instructions before you answer the questions. I remember them clearly stating that you should film behind a clear background, so don’t film in your bedroom if it’s covered in posters and prints. Make sure to read the question properly before recording yourself. I bullet pointed key points on a piece of paper. Don’t script out your answers as you want it to sound natural, but some key prompts will help you from going blank.

Good luck, I believe in you.
